I believe true leadership happens when courage, integrity, vulnerability, awareness and compassion coincide. True leadership is potent but not aggressive, challenging but not shaming, grounded but not rigid. This requires head, heart and gut to be in alignment. It engages and empowers employees to achieve a shared vision - it feels good and everybody benefits...!

 

Using coaching skills grounded in Mindfulness, Emotional Intelligence,  Leadership, Conflict Coaching, Mediation and Integrated Restoration (iRest) I assist individuals and businesses to thrive personally and professionally.

 

As an Australian Army Officer, strategic planner and change manager for 25 years I have led teams and driven change in complex and demanding environments, including during peace-keeping operations, humanitarian assistance and conflict resolution in East Timor, the South Pacific, Iraq, Afghanistan, the United States and Australia.

Mindfulness involves:

    - Moving from our default state of distraction and auto-pilot towards awareness.

    -  Seeing the world as it really is, rather than through our biases and assumptions.

   -  Gaining the ability to respond to any situation in the most appropriate way, rather

       than reacting habitually in sometimes problematic ways.  

   -  Mindfulness enhances clarity, concentration, memory and decision making.

   -  Reduces stress and anxiety; promotes optimal health and wellbeing.

   -  The practical benefits of mindfulness are explained by neuroscience and

       psychology. 

    - In the last 20 years, there have been over 6,000 peer reviewed published article

      outlining the evidence and research base of mindfulness.

Emotional intelligence involves:

   - Self-awareness, self-regulation, and motivation.

   - Empathy (meaning the capacity to understand or feel what an another person is

     experiencing from within their frame of reference)

   - Social and team connection.

   - Emotional intelligence (EI) is responsible for 58% of job performance compared to

     IQ (intelligence quotient). Importantly, EI can be improved by

     training while IQ remains stable over a lifetime.

    - My leadership coaching incorporates principles of mindfulness and emotional

       intelligence. It is founded on solid traditional and contemporary  theory, and takes

       a holistic approach, influenced by Spiral Dynamics, Integral Theory,

       developmental psychology and transformational leadership theory.

Dispute Mediation (Certified Conflict Resolution Mediator)

    - Mediation is an informal process for helping people who have a dispute to 

      sort it out for themselves without going to court.

    - A mediator is a neutral third person who facilitates a process where those in

      the dispute to talk to each other about the issues.

    - The mediator is not an advice-giver or decision-maker. The parties

       exchange information regarding their interests, needs and concerns; and

       examine the real problems, large or small. The parties then create and 

       agree upon an outcome that meets their needs and addresses their

       concerns.

Conflict Management Coaching (Certified CINERGY® Conflict Management Coach)

    - Conflict Management coaching is a structured process that helps people on

      a one-on-one basis to develop or enhance their skills, knowledge and

      competencies, to engage in and manage interpersonal conflict effectively.   

    - It is a confidential process that focuses on each individuals conflict

      management goals.

Integrated Restoration (iRest ®) Yoga Nidra Mediation

(Qualified iRest Level 1 Teacher). iRest is an evidenced based, guided protocol. It can be provided to a group, or in a refined form as a powerful one-on-one dyad.

    - iRest  promotes optimal mental and emotional balance:

  • Strengthens resilience to deal with daily activities

  • Decrease stress, anxiety, and depression

  • Improves sleep, increases energy

  • Helps heal serious trauma, insomnia, depression, PTSD, chronic pain and chemical dependency
